More about the place

The Grande River and its tributaries (Candelaria, Ona, Menéndez, Rasmussen, Moneta and Herminita) are fished with mandatory release of all salmonids, only with spinning or fly, with a single lure and a single hook, and in daylight. Trolling from a motorized boat is prohibited.

To reach areas such as El Tropezón, you must register with Tierra del Fuego’s Fishing Access System and book in advance.

In the 2023–2024 season, fishing on the Grande River and its tributaries ran from 28 October 2023 to 14 April 2024, and on the Grande and Menéndez rivers an additional preferential-zone permit was charged: $37,000 per day and $246,000 per season. These are 2023 figures: check the current dates and prices.
